NDIS

Beloved care provides a range of disability services across WA, which can be delivered at home, at work, or within your local community.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a way for people with disability under 65 to get Government funding for the care and support they need, based on their individual needs and goals.

The NDIS provides funding for all types of things – employment, daily life support, accommodation, activities and much more!

It’s your say all the way. You choose the type of support, when and where you receive it, and which disability service providers you want to deliver the support.

Navigating the NDIS can be tricky. Our experienced staff are here to help you and your family with your NDIS plan, so you can get the most out of your funding and achieve your goals.

In 2019 the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) introduced the Temporary Transformation Payment (TTP) which is a loading to assist service providers as they continue to transition to working under the NDIS.

The TTP is not detrimental to you and the amount of support services you need. The NDIA will ensure you have sufficient funding whether you choose to use a provider who uses the TTP or one who doesn’t.

As of 1 July 2021, the TTP is set at 4.5% of the support cost.

A new change to group pricing will occur effective 01 July 2021 to the way the NDIS is instructing providers to charge for some services under the Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation support category from 1 July 2021.

Within this support category, the NDIS use a number of factors for the support items Access community, social and recreational activities and Group based supports, to determine the price limit.

  1. The ratio of support workers to participants – there are different price limits for 1:1, 1:2; 1:3; 1:4 and 1:5 supports
  2. Whether the support is delivered in a centre or in the community
  3. The hourly price limits include an allowance for non-face-to-face services
  4. The time of day the support is delivered
  5. The day of the week the support is delivered
  6. Whether the support is Standard Intensity or High Intensity (complex)

From 1 July 2021, Belovedcare services will implement NDIS pricing changes to the way the first three points noted above are calculated and communicated to you.

  1. The ratio of support workers to participants

The NDIS price guide will only have a price limit for 1:1 supports. For all group-based supports, the 1:1 price will be divided by the number of participants in the group.

  1. Whether the support is delivered in a centre or in the community

The NDIS price guide will remove these two options. For all supports provided in a centre, providers will be able to claim $2.15* per hour of support per participant, as a centre capital cost allowance.

  1. Non-face-to-face services

The NDIS price guide price limits will no longer include a standard allowance for non-face-to-face time. Providers will be able to charge a non-face-to-face allowance for the time spent on activities that are part of delivering support services to a participant, eg program design, engagement with Support Coordinators, activity set-ups, support plan management, engagement with clinical specialists, etc.

What it will look like? An example.

A participant attends a Hub, is supported in a 1:3 group, from 9am to 3pm on a Monday.

Current

    • NDIS item name: Group Activities In A Centre, 1:3 Standard Weekday Daytime
    • NDIS price: $26.45* per hour
    • Participant cost: 6 hours x $26.45 = $158.70

 New

      • NDIS item name: Group Activities Standard Weekday Daytime
      • NDIS price: $58.80* per hour
      • Non-face-to-face activities for this participant: 30 minutes (the amount of time will vary for each participant, depending on their services and needs)
      • Participant cost:
        • 3 participants in group: ($58.80 ÷ 3 = $19.60) x 6 hours = $117.60
        • PLUS centre capital cost: $2.15 x 6 hours = $12.90
        • PLUS non-face-to-face time: $58.80 ÷ 2 = $29.40
        • TOTAL: $117.60 + $12.90 + $29.40 = $159.90

*All prices subject to change at 1 July 2021 in accordance with the NDIS Price Guide and Support Catalogue

The NDIA has announced a new price guide for 2020-2021 for your NDIS supports. These new prices start on 1 December 2020. You can find more information on the NDIS website.

Each NDIS plan is specific to the person with disability it was created for, so the new prices will affect your plan in a different way to the next person. The NDIA will ensure your funding is increased so the amount of your support services will not be impacted. Here are a few things you need to know.

From 1 December 2020:

A final adjustment of the Equal Remuneration Order (ERO)

Effective 1 December 2020, price limits of 369 support items will increase due to the final ERO adjustment. Price limits for impacted support items will increase by between 1.5% and 2.7%.
For a list of impacted support items, please refer to ‘Price limits determined by the Cost Model’, located in the Disability Support Worker Cost Model 2020-21.

People with disability that are currently funded by Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) are automatically eligible for the NDIS. You can find more information on eligibility on the NDIS website.
